IRCC Minister Marc Miller made a groundbreaking announcement on Sep 27, 2023 that is set to change the game for immigration candidates with experience in agriculture and agri-food occupations. 🌟


With these revolutionary rounds of invitations, Canada aims to attract the highly skilled professionals it needs to bolster the agriculture and agri-food industry. This includes individuals with expertise in roles like retail and wholesale butchers, farm supervisors, and agricultural service contractors.


This brand-new category of Express Entry draw will exclusively target individuals with a minimum of 6 months of experience in the following occupations:


🥩63201 – Butchers – retail and wholesale


🚜82030 – Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors


🌿82031 – Contractors and supervisors, landscaping, grounds maintenance, and horticulture services

🥩 63201 – Butchers – retail and wholesale


Butchers prepare standard and specialty cuts of meat, poultry, fish and shellfish for sale in retail or wholesale food establishments. They are employed in supermarkets, grocery stores, butcher shops and fish stores or may be self-employed. Butchers who are supervisors or heads of departments are included in this unit group. Apprentices are also included in this unit group


Examples of job titles are:

  • Apprentice butcher - retail or wholesale

  • Butcher - butcher shop

  • Head butcher - wholesale

  • Retail butcher


🚜82030 – Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors


Agricultural service contractors provide agricultural services such as livestock and poultry breeding, soil preparation, crop planting, crop spraying, cultivating or harvesting. Farm supervisors supervise the work of specialized livestock workers, farm machinery operators, livestock labourers, aquaculture labourers and harvesting labourers. Contractors may be self-employed.


Examples of job titles are:

  • Artificial insemination service contractor

  • Crop harvesting service contractor

  • Farm foreman/woman

  • Farm supervisor

  • Feedlot foreman/woman

  • Hog operation supervisor

  • Livestock breeding service contractor

  • Poultry farm foreman/woman

  • Ranch foreman/woman

  • Vegetable farm foreman/woman


🌿 82031 – Contractors and supervisors, landscaping, grounds maintenance, and horticulture services


Contractors and supervisors, landscaping, grounds maintenance and horticulture services supervise and coordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Nursery and greenhouse workers (85103) and Landscaping and grounds maintenance labourers (85191). They are employed by landscaping companies, cemeteries, lawn care and tree service companies, nurseries and greenhouses and by landscaping operations of public works departments and private establishments. Contractors may be self-employed.


Examples of job titles are:

  • grounds maintenance contractor

  • groundskeeping supervisor

  • horticulture workers supervisor

  • interior plant scaping contractor

  • landscaping contractor
