Canada offers a multitude of more than 100 immigration programs, each designed to cater to the unique circumstances, skills, and aspirations of applicants.

In order to become a Canadian citizen, you will first have to apply through one of these immigration programs to become a Canada permanent resident (Canada PR).

Once you have met the eligibility requirements, you can then apply for Canadian citizenship. Canada allows dual citizenship. You do not have to give up your original citizenship if your home country allows dual citizenship, too. If your home country does not allow dual citizenship, you can remain as a Canada PR as long as you meet the residency obligation requirement.
