Breaking News: Canada Starts Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) Lottery Today!

Are you ready to take the exciting step towards reuniting with your parents and grandparents in Canada? The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has just launched a fresh round of invitations for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) starting today 💌

🌟 What's the Buzz? 🌟

Here's the scoop: Over the next two weeks, the IRCC will send out 24,200 invitations, with the goal of receiving up to 15,000 complete applications. These coveted invitations are exclusively extended to those who have previously submitted their interest to sponsor forms. So, if you submitted your interest to sponsor form in 2020 but didn't receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in 2021 or 2022, now is the time to keep a close eye on your email inbox. 📧

🎯 Why the Change? 🎯

IRCC is committed to modernizing Canada's immigration system, making it faster and more accessible. The PGP operates on a lottery system, where sponsors and their families have 60 days to submit their applications. To be eligible, sponsors must meet specific criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Live in Canada.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.

  • Have sufficient income to support those they want to sponsor, meeting minimum income requirements for the previous three years. Candidates can include a co-signer in their application, allowing combined income to be considered.

  • For sponsors residing in Quebec, there are additional Quebec immigration sponsorship requirements. The Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) also assesses the sponsor's income and requires an undertaking to be signed.

💡 What's Your Plan B? 💡

If you aren't invited to the PGP this year, consider the Parents and Grandparents Super Visa. This multiple-entry visa is valid for up to 10 years, allowing your loved ones to stay in Canada for longer periods. Moreover, international medical insurance companies are now permitted to provide coverage to Super Visa candidates, offering emergency health care without cost to Canadian taxpayers.

🔑 Unlocking Your Reunion Dreams 🔑

To apply for a Super Visa, you'll need to meet specific criteria, including eligibility for a regular visitor visa, medical insurance, and a letter of invitation from your family member in Canada. This letter demonstrates your child or grandchild's commitment to financially support you during your stay. 📝

The Parents and Grandparents Super Visa is your ticket to unite with your family in Canada while awaiting your shot at permanent residence under the PGP. 🏡✈️
